About FNB eWallet

FNB eWallet is a digital money transfer service offered by First National Bank (FNB), allowing users to send, receive, and access money instantly using a mobile phone number. Although it is mainly used in South Africa and some Southern African markets, it is often referenced in Tanzania’s fintech ecosystem as a cross-border mobile wallet model, similar in concept to mobile money systems like M-Pesa or Airtel Money.

The service enables FNB customers to send money to anyone with a valid mobile number, even if the recipient does not have a bank account. The recipient can then withdraw cash, spend the money, or transfer it further. It operates as a bank-backed mobile wallet system, not a standalone fintech or lender.

  • Cash Withdrawals: Recipients can withdraw funds at ATMs or authorized agents without a bank card using a PIN or OTP.
