About Banxico (Bank of Mexico)
Banco de México, commonly known as Banxico (Bank of Mexico), is the central bank of Mexico. Established in 1925, it is an autonomous public institution responsible for maintaining the stability of the Mexican peso, controlling inflation, promoting the sound development of the financial system, and ensuring the proper functioning of payment systems throughout the country.
Banxico is one of the most important financial institutions in Mexico and serves as the country's monetary authority. Unlike commercial banks, it does not provide loans, savings accounts, or retail banking services to the general public. Instead, it formulates monetary policy, issues currency, manages foreign reserves, and supports financial stability.
