Lao Development Bank Co., Ltd

The Lao Development Bank Co., Ltd. (LDB) is a joint venture bank, with 70% of shares held by Chaleun Sekong Energy Co., Ltd. and 30% by the Ministry of Finance. It operates under the supervision of the Bank of the Lao PDR and adheres to the laws and regulations of Laos. Established in 2003 through the merger of two state-owned commercial banks, Lao Mai Bank Limited and Lane Xang Bank Limited, LDB aimed to stabilize the banking sector and support the country's socio-economic development. Over the years, the bank has modernized its operations, adopting new technologies such as the T24 Core Banking System and launching ATM-based financial transactions and mobile banking. In 2021, a joint venture agreement was signed to further enhance the bank's capabilities. LDB focuses on promoting small and medium enterprises, strengthening the national economic base, and improving people's livelihoods. Despite challenges posed by the global Covid-19 pandemic, the bank remains committed to supporting various sectors including hydropower, eco-tourism, agriculture, and trade. With a dedicated and skilled leadership team, LDB is poised to achieve continued success and contribute to the economic recovery of Laos.
